OK, you apparently used one of the Built-In Headers from the Document Elements tab of the Ribbon. Those convenience features look nice but IMO they are technically inept -- or at least not fully explained:-) They are constructed using Tables, The Table Cells for the actual page number aren't wide enough to accommodate multiple digits & they do not automatically adjust. You can adjust them in either of 2 ways; • Numerically • Click in the cell containing the page number • Go to Table> Table Properties> Cell • Increase the Preferred width to something like 10% or.5' • Manually • Position the pointer on the left edge of the cell • When the pointer looks like a ⇼ drag left to widen the cell Please mark HELPFUL or ANSWERED as appropriate to keep list as clean as possible ☺ Regards, Bob J.
Hi all, new guy here Im at the moment making a template, that i will use for all my future documents. But i have a little trouble with two things so far.
Page numbers. The page numbers keep giving the cover page number 1. But this page should not have a number. Also the next page of the document (the reference page) should also not have a page number.
And the page number should first start on page 3 with the number 1. But how do i do this? Also my footer. In my footer i have a logo that will be needed to be the same on all pages. On windows it was, if you added a logo/picture to one footer. It would be copied to all footers on all other pages.

Word 2011 for Mac users can customise the header or footer to display total page numbers using Auto-text feature. Let us say you want to display Page X of Y where Y is total page numbers then you can follow the below mentioned steps. I am writing an essay, and in the top right corner i need to have my last name followed by the page number. Simple enough. But when I try to change the page number on say page number two, it also changes the page number on pages 1,3,4,and 5. Following a word file in html: i open word 2011 in mac, insert header,footer and some text and save it as a webdocument. Then i upload this htm file into our online system. It replaces the local header information with remote header information. In the header, type the text ^Running head: _ followed by a space. Type the content of your running head in uppercase letters, and then tab over to the end of the line. It was not displaying the header and page number at the same time in Word 2010. Hi drenriza, To do this, you need to use a 'Next page' Section break to separate the document's 'front matter' from it's body. After inserting the 'Next page' Section break, go to the page it creates and access the page footer.
Unlink the footer from the previous Section, then insert the page number field. If you want, you can format the page numbering to start from 1 in the new Section, rather than counting the pages from the previous Section. The tools for these steps all become visible once you enter the header/footer area.
